I'm gonna overload you with photos here...

Way behind on posting... Had such high hopes of keeping up but alas, I cannot. So, here's a "catching-up" if you will. Photos from the summer, even though it feels like it's just getting started (Love ya, Seattle, but come on!).

Horseback Riding

One of my fondest memories as a child was horseback riding at Alisal Ranch in California with my grandpa. I still remember the first horse I ever rode there, he was white with spots and his name was Margarita. I was 7 years old and thought it was the best thing ever to go horseback riding! Today I took Hudson for his first real ride and he loved it. Hopefully he remembers it as fondly as I did.

Hudson on the left with Sweetie Pie and me with Junior on the right. He was a bit of a snacker on the trail, but I liked him.

The birthday celebration begins

A few months ago I asked Maddie if she would rather have a birthday party for her fourth birthday or go away somewhere fun for the weekend. Thankfully, she chose a weekend getaway. Today we arrived at our getaway destination and the first thing she asked me was, "Mom, where is my birthday party?!" Something tells me she didn't understand the question. Suncadia Resort is lovely! We are excited to get out tomorrow to explore, do some hiking, bike riding and swimming. Let the celebration (sans birthday party) begin!

REINVENTING THE BLOG

A few weeks ago I stumbled on my old blog, The Daily Hud & Maddie, too...and I found myself right smack dab in the middle of nostalgia. With countless hours of memories to look through I couldn't help myself. I read and read and read some more. I got lost in the memories and the stories. I loved seeing the photos, and I am always amazed at how quickly our children grow and change. I laughed so much at so many of the old posts, and (not surprisingly) I got teary-eyed and cried. So many of those moments, the stories and the images, made me yearn for them again. They are all such precious moments that we won't ever get back again.

So much of what happens in our daily lives is forgotten. We get caught up in routines and schedules and to-do lists and then suddenly school comes along combined with extracurricular activities, birthday parties, winter/mid-winter/spring/vacations, playdates, illnesses and of course things that might be somewhat important to us as moms and dads and....the list goes on and on...

Often taking the time to sit down and write about what's happening in our lives just doesn't happen, but having stumbled upon the old blog I realized just how important this is to me. I am so grateful to have taken the time to record the early years, and to be able to revisit them again and again. I want to continue sharing these experiences with all of you who stop by occasionally to see what is happening in our lives, but also as a form of documenting these years.

I could share a tremendous amount of photos and sort-of play catch up, but instead I'll leave you with a few from our recent trip to Disneyland. It was magical. The perfect age for both kids and so much fun for all of us. A week filled with memories. One for the blog for sure.
